by Rick Riordan
Book Summary
The third installment in The Heroes of Olympus graphic novel series, 'The Mark of Athena' brings together the Greek and Roman demigods for the first time. The Argo II, carrying Annabeth, Jason, Piper, and Leo, arrives at Camp Jupiter, where Percy, Frank, and Hazel await. Tensions rise between the two camps, further complicated when Leo is possessed by an eidolon and attacks the Roman camp. This forces the seven demigods to flee on the Argo II, now declared enemies by the Romans. Their true quest is to find the Athena Parthenos, a powerful statue, to unite the two demigod camps and prevent a war. Annabeth, guided by a message from her mother Athena, embarks on a dangerous solo mission in Rome to follow the 'Mark of Athena' and retrieve the statue from Arachne in the Labyrinth. Meanwhile, the others attempt to rescue Nico di Angelo from the twin giants, Otis and Ephialtes. The demigods face numerous challenges and monsters across Europe, ultimately converging in the Labyrinth. After successfully retrieving the Athena Parthenos, Percy and Annabeth tragically fall into Tartarus, leaving the remaining five demigods to continue the journey to Greece.
