The Grouchy Ladybug Reading Comprehension Questions
by Eric Carle
Book Summary
The Grouchy Ladybug tells the story of a ill-tempered ladybug who refuses to share aphids with a friendly ladybug. Throughout the day, the grouchy ladybug challenges a series of increasingly larger animals to a fight, but always backs down when the animals agree. As the day progresses, the ladybug travels around the world, encountering creatures from a yellowjacket to an elephant, with each encounter marked by the time of day. Eventually, the grouchy ladybug meets a whale, who slaps it with its tail, sending it flying back to its starting point. Tired, hungry, and humbled, the ladybug finally learns the importance of good manners, sharing, and kindness, and shares the remaining aphids with the friendly ladybug.
