by C. S. Lewis
Part of the The Chronicles of Narnia series · Book 1 of 7
Book Summary
During World War II, four siblings, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie, are sent to live in the countryside. While exploring their new home, Lucy discovers a magical wardrobe that leads to the snowy land of Narnia. Narnia is under the spell of the evil White Witch, who has made it "always winter and never Christmas." Lucy and her siblings get drawn into the fight to free Narnia with the help of talking animals, mythical creatures, and the true king, Aslan the Lion. Edmund initially betrays his siblings to the Witch but later realizes his mistake. Aslan makes the ultimate sacrifice to save Edmund, but then returns to lead the Narnians and the children in a battle against the Witch. The children eventually become kings and queens of Narnia, ruling for many years before returning to their own world, still children.
