The Silver Chair (adult) Reading Comprehension Questions
by C. S. Lewis
Book Summary
Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pole escape bullies at their school and are pulled into Narnia by Aslan. Aslan gives Jill a mission: to find the lost Prince Rilian, King Caspian's son, and gives her four Signs to guide them. They meet Puddleglum, a gloomy but loyal Marsh-wiggle, who becomes their guide. Their journey takes them far north, then deep underground into a dark kingdom. There, they find a knight who is enchanted and bound to a silver chair for part of each day. This knight is Prince Rilian. The beautiful Queen of Underland tries to enchant Eustace, Jill, and Puddleglum, making them forget their mission and Narnia. But Puddleglum bravely breaks the spell. They free Prince Rilian from the silver chair, and he defeats the evil Queen, who reveals herself as a giant serpent. They escape the Underland and return to Narnia, where Prince Rilian reunites with his aging father, King Caspian, before Caspian's death. Rilian becomes the new King. Eustace and Jill return to their school, having learned much about courage and loyalty.
